The Story of
the Dancing Goat

Coffee originated in the area we now know as Ethiopia. A goat herder by the name of Kaldi was busy watching his flock when he began to notice that on some occasions, the goats would become very lively. He followed them one morning and saw that after eating the cherries from a local tree, they began to "dance". He eagerly ate some and within minutes began to feel invigorated. Shortly thereafter, the nearby monks began to harvest the cherries, boil them and use the liquid as a stimulant to help them with long hours of meditation. Coffee traveled throughout Asia, through Europe, then into the Americas. Here at the FigTree, we proudly serve Dancing Goat coffee as our house blend. Caffeine a problem? Try our Lazy Goat Decaf – same flavorful notes without the "dance".
